In sixth grade I was sitting in the backseat of a dark green '73 Buick Centurion owned by by sister's boyfriend. He pushed Boston's second album, "Don't Look Back", into the tape deck.
The world changed.
At least for me - I couldn't have described it then - didn't have the words - but at that moment I was touched by beauty. Not "pretty", not "cool", but beauty. All I knew then was that I wanted to make that big noise.
I announced my plan to learn guitar, so my dad put new strings on an old beater acoustic that was laying around the house, bought me a "Teach Yourself Guitar" type of book, and told me to go for it. I was on my way.
So, here I am, two decades plus later - I've been playing guitar since then, and have occasional gusts of bass, percussion, and even computer music. Ultimately, I still want to make that big noise.
On this website I'll post bits and pieces of my projects, and on my blog I'll share thoughts about music - reviews of music (from a musician's perspective), as well as thoughts on music theory and practice.
